Death and Divorce are Different

The person who loses a spouse to death and the person who loses a spouse to divorce can share in similar emotions: shock, grief, anger, depression, and loneliness. There are workshops and weekends where the two groups are combined and they can offer each other some level of support and healing.

But there is MUCH more to divorce (unique issues and ongoing struggles) that calls for at least a separate weekly meeting place.

  • After the death of a spouse, friends will call you and bring yummy casseroles.
  • After a divorce, friends and even family can shun you and dis-invite you to the potlucks and holiday gatherings. They don't want to (or maybe they feel they CAN'T) see you to talk to you again.
Please read here (free download) for a better understanding of why the divorced need their own group.
